Today Palmeiras (or, in its full name, Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras) launched TV Palmeiras Play. The service offers Palmeiras’ fans exclusive content such as behind the scenes images, game broadcasts, interviews, films and documentaries about the team.
The idea came up because Palmeiras’ Youtube channel was extremely successful. With 800 thousand subscribers, it is among the biggest soccer team Youtube channels in the world.
Currently, TV Palmeiras Play is a free service, but in the future, only partner fans (in Portuguese, sócios torcedores – people who pay a monthly fee in order to have discounts on tickets at the team’s games) will have access to the service. In fact, only partner fans who purchase specific packages will have access to the service in the future, so this might motivate some to upgrade their deals.
